Crystalline Rivers

35 years ago when this secret gorge was introduced to me I knew I had to settle here. With Japans abundant rainfall, mountainous topography and unexpectedly large swathes of undeveloped wilderness, sublime waterways abound.

This secret gorge is like a crown jewel amongst them. Much of it is formed from a single layer of rock making natural water slides a priceless gift of joy in the sweltering summers.

Its almost no surprise that quartz crystals can be found here, the entire valley is a natural healing dimension that is straight out of a Miyazaki Hayao anime. What looks like gold dust flows though this pristine vein of Gaias life system, but the energy here is worth far more than gold.

A gentle stroll along her shady banks, a refreshing dip, meditating by this sage like entity you might hear her whisper, "Go with the flow".

Deserted idyllic beaches, rugged coastlines, deep forests, jungle, volcanoes, lakes, crystal clear rivers,, blue skies, ancient culture, country hospitality, mythical sites.... a hidden land off beauty, friendly locals and adventure.

World Class Hiking

Volcanic and tectonic forces, the most sunshine hours and 3 rd highest rainfall in Japan make for an incredible rich biodiversity. On a one day hike you can traverse several distinct environs due to the millions of years difference in their development resulting from cataclysmic eruptions and eartthquakes. Paths are well kept yet many are relatively unexplored. On the hike pictured we had the whole glorious day seeing only one solo hiker.
